THE PROGRAMS THAT CONTROL YOU

Subconscious Programs.jpg

How do these subconscious "programs" actually work?

They have various origins. Some of them were picked up in childhood, and some of them were created by you in order to protect yourself from past trauma.

Many people confuse these "programs" for who they really are. For example, perhaps you've developed a desire for control and you would say something like "I can't do this, I need control!"

This "you" that needs control isn't the real you. It's a program that's making you think like this. This specific program could be rooted in the belief that "If I'm in control, people can't hurt or betray me."

In other words, control puts you into a position of power, it allows you to dictate whatever happens in the situation. This lessens the chance of you getting into a vulnerable position. On the other hand, if someone else is in control, you are at their mercy, which triggers your subconscious emotional wounds and fears regarding powerlessness and vulnerability.

Is this the real you? Of course not, it's the result of a program that's stuck in your subconscious mind. Many of these programs have their origins in our childhood. Young children are like sponges, they take in everything around them. They form these "programs" through observation and experiences. Things like who we should be, how we should think and what we should believe are usually planted into our minds by the behaviours and words of our parents, schools, friends etc. Although some of these programs can be beneficial, chances are there's many of them that are not.

If we don't consciously revisit these programs and do the inner work in order to "reprogram" ourselves, we will carry these programs with us for the rest of our lives. The problem is that these programs are often subconscious, which means that we are not aware of them. So in order to change them, we first have to become aware of their existence.

It's also important to understand that the "program" itself is not concerned about whether it's beneficial or not... Think of a CD in a CD Player. The CD Player will play any CD that's been inserted, it's not going to determine if the CD is good or not before it plays it. On top of that, the only way to change the CD is to manually take it out and replace it.

When it comes to your subconscious programs, the process works the same. If we don't consciously "take the program out" and replace it with something else, your subconscious mind will continue to execute the program regardless if it's beneficial or not!
