"Good communication is the bridge between confusion and clarity." - Nat Turner Being able to communicate effectively is a crucial skill when dealing with other people. Sometimes we think that we've communicated our message clearly, but then we realize the other person has completely misunderstood our message. This can result in many problems, such as the person not doing what we asked them to do, or it can lead to an undesirable response, causing us to fall back by saying something like "that's not what I meant". So many conflict situations arise because of misunderstandings and ineffective communication. Effective communication is far more than just simply talking to people and relaying information. It's got to do with your body language, your word choice, your tone of voice, eye contact, and many other elements including effective listening. How you use all the elements of communication will determine how people will react and receive your message. Another crucial part of effective communication is understanding the personality that you are communicating with. Each personality communicates differently, and we like to refer to this as "the languages of each personality". For example, certain personalities are heavily focused on the feelings behind your words, while others focus more on body language and the literal word usage. Learning how to "talk the language of each personality" is a crucial skill that will greatly improve your communication skills!
